As I am sure you know, I haven't updated my blog since September when I was still living at home as a result of my femur break. Since then, a lot has happened! Tons of physical therapy, hanging out with family and friends, took a couple online classes, learned how to cook, moved into a house in Boulder, and am now back to school. Next on the agenda is to get a job. The video above is me "trying" to V-logg (Video Blogging). It is a test run, I just wanted to make sure it all worked. I sound funny on camera and I have an awesome beard. Enjoy! In the next few weeks I will have a video post detailing exactly what I did during those past 7 months.

No surprise here, but you will learn what happened to me in the second sentence of this post. Long story short...I broke my femur, pretty bad. I was still in Yellowstone, about to enjoy my first day on the water at Hebgen Lake. I was slalom waterskiing, something I had never done before. I had skied with two skies plenty of times as well as wake boarded. I am a pretty athletic kid and was able to get up on my 3rd or 4th time. It was going pretty well until I decided I was done/let go of the rope and thats when it went bad. But it never looked bad to the onlooker.

Once I hit the water, I instantly knew my leg was broken. Not only did it look broken, it felt broken, gone even. My leg was numb and I instantly knew this was not good. I was laying in freezing cold water, without a wetsuit(which later I would appreciate), and with a slalom ski stuck on my now swollen leg and foot. Mr. and Mrs. Helvey, who were watching me from a jetski came over not know what had happened until I told them. As I remember it, I calmly told Mr. Helvey that I had broken my leg. He sounded shocked and in disbelief, rightfully so. I told him again that my leg was broken and then stuff began to happen. The boat circled around and pulled up right next to me. In the commotion, the jetski got caught in my rope, leaving the jetski useless, for now. We left the jetski in the water to float to shore and retrieve, which I assume made it there. They pulled me onto the boat, got off the ski, which took a while because my foot had already swollen up. Mrs. Helvey and Mrs. Bodine huddled around me to keep me warm as we raced to the dock.

Before the accident -- I remember Mrs. Bodine asking me how much fun I was having on the boat, and she stuck up two thumbs, I did not say anything but did the same back giving her my smile. As we were riding back to the dock she jokingly asked me if i was still having fun and I said I was but only one thumbs worth. ;) I think she smiled. I did.

Once we got to the dock, they got me straight onto a pool chair and board to act like a gurney. They carried me up the flight of stairs and into the back of the Helvey's SUV. They loaded me in and everyone gathered around me. We prayed, and Mr. Helvey and Mr. Bodine blessed me. I vividly remember Maddie holding my hand and telling me that I would be ok. This was very good to hear. I remember Cam crying, or maybe I wasn't seeing clearly(I don't know if he would admit that today ;)).

A lady who lived in the cabin next to us happened to be an ER nurse. I am sorry for my language, but she scared the hell out of me. She was asking for rope, or bungie cords or something of the like. I was well aware of what that meant. I am an Eagle Scout as were most of the men there. I took Emergency Preparedness, and lets just say, I was not prepared for all of this. I will just cut to the chase and say, luckily she did not have to use them, but the entire time we were on that dirt path from the cabin by the lake to the freeway, I was afraid that she would whip them out any second.

I have never been so happy to see red and blue flashing lights and a siren. These lights are normally associated with traffic tickets, something I have received, once for speeding, and once for being on my cell phone(something most of your won't be surprised about ;-)). Ok, we arrive at the freeway right when the ambulance arrives. Irene, the paramedic is very calm and cute too. Major bonus points for the fire department in West Yellowstone, haha! Hi Irene! They put me on morphine, and quickly realize they can't find the pulse in my leg. This is not good. But is to be expected after breaking the femur. They put my leg into traction(which is where they pull the leg to straighten it out). After doing so they were able to get my pulse and put my leg into a soft, inflatable cast as to keep it in traction.

They load me into the ambulance and now we are off to the races! The ambulance races to the hospital in Rexburg, Idaho about an hour and a half away if driving the normal speed limit of 65 mph. I was later told we got there in about 30-40 minutes going 90 mph. Mrs. Helvey had to call Mr. Helvey and tell him that he could not follow that fast, even though we all know he is capable of it. :)

After arriving at the hospital, I was kind of going in and out. I don't remember getting from the ambulance to inside the hospital. But I do remember getting my leg taken out of traction and then being re-set so that the ambulance could have their own traction cast back. I don't remember getting an xray of my leg, but I remember taking a picture of the xray and tweeting it to my followers which started off a frenzy. The last thing I remember before waking up after surgery was asking the doctor if it was ok if I took a nap. I remember asking multiple times, saying, "are you sure?". I am not sure why I kept asking. The next thing I know I am awake in my private room with Mr. and Mrs. Helvey and my leg has been set with a rod the length of my femur, 3 screws(2 at my knee and 1 at my hip), and 28 external staples, with a number of internal stitches as well. Oh, and did I mention that this day, August 9th was my Dad's birthday.

The next day my parents had arranged to fly from where we live to Salt Lake City, Utah and then take a shuttle to Rexburg where they would come stay at the hospital with me while I recovered. At first, I was not excited about this at all. I was hoping I would be able to go back to West Yellowstone and see Maddie in Beauty and the Beast too! Of course, this was not realistic, but for some reason I kept thinking I would be able to leave and catch the show and enjoy Yellowstone some more. In the end, it was the best that my parents came to stay with me.

We have connections!

My accident occurred on a Monday, and I think it was Wednesday or Thursday, that I was supposed to leave the hospital. For whatever reason, and to this day the doctors are not sure about, my blood oxygen level dropped into the low 40s(it is supposed to be 100 or high 90s) and my heart rate shot up. This put the nurse into panic mode, and it brought a whole new group of doctors into the room. Cardic -surgeons or something like that. They gave me a cat-scan(CT Scan) of my chest to see if there were any blood clots in my lungs. The x-rays came back negative which was a great relief for us all. The rest of my stay which was extended two or three days depending on what day this occurred(can't remember), the doctors had me hooked up to an EKG, which is an electrocardiogram. It remotely monitors my vitals and such. They had to place these little sticky circles all over my chest, which was kind of a problem for a guy with some hair on his chest. So they had to shave squares all over my chest so they could get a good connection. Oh, by the way, my whole left leg was entirely shaved for surgery, its a very nice feeling, but not something I would want to do on a normal basis. You ladies and male swimmers/bikers can keep that one for yourselves. ;)

Also sometime during my stay in the hospital the a mixture of Helveys/Bodines came to visit twice, as well as Mrs. Helveys parents! It was great to have some visitors in the hospital. I also wanted to say, I loved my nurses, specifically, Brooke. :)

So, the day I was to return to Boulder, Colorado for my Sophomore year of college, I would return home, back to the Bay Area. We later decided that it would be best for me to stay home this semester and get my leg back 100%. During this time, I will be taking 3 online classes and doing physical therapy everyday.(I am sure I will be updating more).

Lake Hebgen/Yellowstone

Right before heading off to Boulder for my Sophomore year, I would take a week long trip with the Helveys that inevitably would delay my arrival in Boulder much longer. The plan was for me to fly to Salt Lake City, Utah and hang out with Annie for a couple days before meeting up with the Helveys and continuing my adventure to Yellowstone, Montana! It was great seeing Annie and hanging out with her for a few days. We explored Temple Square in Salt Lake City and actually found someone we knew! We found Jenae, one of the bridesmaids in Brittany's wedding! She was working as a Missionary for her church. It was cool to see her and talk a little bit. Annie showed me around Ogden, Utah and Pleasant View. She promised next time I visit we can do some more adventurous stuff and hopefully visit longer.

The next day we met up with the Helveys at the famous Helvey diner of choice, Chilis. It was good to see them, and this is where I was presented with my "Wildlife T-Shirt" My was brown with a big screen-printed wolf on it.

Yellowstone was awesome and Maddie's performance at the Playmill in West Yellowstone was fantastic! I got to see Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and absolutely loved it. I was surprised that I did. It may have been because Maddie was in it. :) It is always cooler to see a performance or show with a familiar face on stage. I am still sad that I didn't get to see her in Beauty and the Beast.

We visited Yellowstone National Park as well, my first visit to the park. It was so beautiful and even more magnificent to finally see in person. We did some hiking, and saw real Buffaloes!!! That was definitely the highlight of the trip. There had to be hundreds of them all making their way across the road we were on, right at sunset. Some were extremely "friendly" coming close to our car and blocking in a motor home parked off to the side. It was very exciting, but also very scary. Below are some pictures from the trip. The buffalo ones wont look that impressive, but it was awesome in person!

Summer Update

I had a great summer between my Freshman and Sophomore years of college. I worked at Big 5 Sporting Goods again and took two Independent Study courses online though Colorado. Work started off fun, and slowly became boring and repetitive, as expected. Good thing I do not aspire to work in retail when I get older. The first class I took was Intro to Mass Communication, a pre-requisite for applying to the School of Journalism. My second course was History through Baseball, which I loved. It was literally the history of baseball and how it affected America and its people through the years.

For the 4th of July I did a solo road trip to Manhattan Beach to hang out with Hannah, Lauren, and Megan. It was good seeing them. Two of those days I was there we met up with Dani, Daniel, and his girlfriend Fallon in San Diego. She was visiting from Connecticut. If you remember, Daniel is my freshman year roommate. It was awesome getting to see so many people that I go to school with during the summer. Below are some pictures from my summer. I do not have that many pictures. These were the most memorable things/things I can remember 3-4 months later.

Chatting and Water. Two things present on our hike. One I was lacking. Natalie brought enough water for both of us but I was kind of sick, and didn't want to get her sick so I went thirsty for the duration of our two and a half our adventure. I was ok though. White snow is your best friend for an occasional snack. ;)

This past weekend Natalie and I went on a hike to the Boulder Flatirons. We started off on a really icy path at an incline. Natalie had some pretty comical falls (I mean very elegant and graceful). Once we got to an actual trail, it was more easy going, but now muddy. Because of the recent rainfall and runoff, the mountain was quite the hike. We decided to head towards the Royal Arch. But we never did make it there. What used to be wooden steps was now a giant icy slide, fit for penguins. And we definitely looked like penguins sliding down the chute! Nevertheless it was an awesome adventure. And we finished it off with sandwiches at Which Wich! (get the Pastrami!) Its fun to have a good hiking partner who is willing to talk sports with you!

@Timbuk2 Birthday Gift

For those of you who don't know, my birthday is March 15th, and fast approaching! Put it on your calendars. Well the current backpack I have had is becoming quite grimy and a hole was forming in the bottom, and that means I would need a new backpack soon. I decided I wanted to try something different. A Messenger Bag, one that will carry my books, my laptop, a jacket and a bunch of other random things I normally carry. I did some research, like always and decided on @Timbuk2, for a couple of reasons. They are made in the Bay Area; San Francisco to be exact, which is really cool! They are also super-Bouldery and the guy who works in costumer service just moved from Denver to San Francisco. Check out Timbuk2. They are great bags! My parents bought it for me. Thanks Mom and Dad! <3

Here is the one I got. I customized it from the color of the logo to the blue and black stripes to the little glossy straps so I don't get killed by a crazy driver while I am on a bike/walking home. I also added the nice, little grippy strap so that it won't slide off my back. The compression straps are also a cool feature that allow me to cinch down my contents so that it doesn't flap around.

Zack was here February 19-21st. In exchange for a few plane delays and an annoying crying baby on his flight from San Jose, CA to Denver, CO, Zack was rewarded with the all-inclusive Boulder experience with me! The first night we went to bowling at Mad Catz in Westminster, CO with my Bible Study group. We had pizza, bowled a bunch of games and hung out with some of the guys in my Study. When we got back, we hung out at Will Vill, met all my friends and just hung out. Zack was pretty tired from all the traveling so we took it easy.

Saturday sure was jam-packed though. We woke up really early(10 am, LOL) and had some dining hall breakfast then hit the sights of Boulder. I gave Zack the official CU Boulder tour of the campus. We then went to the 29th Street Mall and went to the Apple Store. I bought a new screen protector for my iPhone. We also went to Borders and Champion(an athletic store where I got a CU hat).
After enough looking at the 29th Street Mall, we hit up Pearl Street, which is a very pretty outdoor mall where the street is blocked off and its all pedestrian walking. We just looked around and bought a candy apple from some place called Colorado Chocolate, I think. We also had lunch at Which Wich, which is a really good sandwich restaurant.

The rest of Zack's trip was more of the same! Eating out, visiting stuff in Boulder, hanging out with my friends, etc..

Buffalo Awakening

I hate not updating my blog right after stuff happens because I always forget when things took place. But good thing this post is not really time sensitive. It is more of a post that can be written any time because my feelings about the retreat will always be the same. I absolutely LOVED Buffalo Awakening. This was a life changing experience and enjoyed every minute of it. I don't want to go into too much detail for in case my sister comes to CU(LOL), but I loved it. Every single last part of it. I just want to thank my Shrek family, Matt for convincing me to go, and Natalie for hanging out with me after/going to mass with me! :)

And I thought Senior Retreat was life changing, WOW! I am now actively involved at St. Tom's and love it!

OtterBox Defender

I took a pretty big fall the last time I went snowboarding and heard something in my jacket crack as I hit the ice. Freaking out, I opened up my jacket and found my iPhone barely breathing. My iPhone has suffered a flesh wound. My incase slider had broke. While the case had done its job(protect my iPhone at all costs), it could now no longer perform its duties and it had an honorable discharge.

Now begins my search for the replacement. I needed a case that would take impact, be able to be used while it is raining, and not slip out of my gloved hands. I had come back to the case I had always wondered about but never took the chance to purchase. The Otterbox! Yes, the Otterbox was always too bulky, too expensive and too flashy. Now, was the time to go for it. I did some research. I went to http://www.otterbox.com/ and decided I wanted the Defender, the multi-layer beast.

My Christmas gift from my parents has arrived in Boulder, CO! My Nixon Watch is here! Below is a picture of me wearing it. Check it out. This watch was impossible to find. I am convinced that I found the last black one left in the world. It is believed that this watch has been discontinued. I had to order it off of a Canada based website where I had to order in French. Wish Michael could have helped me. Oh well, I had to use Yahoo Babel Fish.

Breckenridge I

This past weekend was my first time snowboarding in Colorado while at school here. I went to Breckenridge, supposedly the "Amsterdam of the Rockies". It was a ton of fun! I went with my neighbor Steven, and two of his friends, Daniel and Michael. We left at 7:30am, were at the resort by 10:00am ish and headed up to the slope. We took it easy the first run going down an intermediate run. They raced down it and I just took my time for a couple of reasons. I was super rusty and I wanted to just mess around on the slopes. I was hitting some jumps, trying to ride switch and just having a good time. After a couple more small runs on Peak 6 we headed up to Peak 7 where we had to hike the last 200-300 feet. This was the hardest hike ever. The air was so thin. We were at 12,000+, the highest ski lift in North America! Below you will find a picture of the view. FYI: It is iPhone quality.

At the top, getting down sucked. It was super icy with a 50º decline. We scrapped the idea of going on this run anymore and hung out on Peak 6 for the rest of the day. I was really rusty, but I had a great time boarding at Breck. I really hope I can improve even more with the time I am spending here in Colorado. But I promise I won't be spending too much time here. Overall it was an awesome time.

Oh, and wouldn't it be awesome to own a condo right by the lift!

Christmas Break and New Years!

This was the first time I have gone home since I left for Colorado in August. And boy was it great do be home. I would be staying at home for the next 3 weeks or so. I hung out with friends and just took it easy. I hung out with my family and spent a lot of time with my dad.

New Years was a ton of fun. I went down to Manhattan Beach, CA and hung out with my friend Hannah. Hannah and I go to school together in Colorado and we figured it would be cool to hang out for New Years. I also met up with Buckles and Lauren, both girls who go to school with me and live near Hannah.

My Dad took me to the USC v. Boston College football game.

I met up with my friend Molly at the game. USC ended up winning. :(

and this was my first game. I totally destroyed my opponent

Rivalry week against Brandon Blaine, a Twitter friend. The battle of the "Twitter Bowl". I got completely destroyed. Adrian Peterson didn't do anything in a loss to the Cardinals. Vincent Jackson did nothing against a crappy Cleveland Browns. And finally Dallas Clark did nothing in a win over the Titans. Hopefully I still make the playoffs with an 8-5 record!

The Colorado Buffaloes 2009 football season ended today with a 21-28 loss to our hated rival, N***aska. Hawkins and the Buffs couldn't win it for the graduating seniors or the program in much need of a victory. Just the day before, CU let everybody know that Coach Dan Hawkins would be returning to coach next year, prompting much outrage from fans, alumni, sports analysts, and current students. Including myself! I am
Very upset with how the AD, Chancellor, and Presiden are handling the situation. I do realize the cost to buyout Hawkins is upwards of $3.1 million, money that CU doesn't have for that. Nevertheless, it sends an awful message to the Big 12, the country and Buffs fans. CU does not seem interested in winning. Hawkins better fix this or I bet he is canned midpoint next season.

Personally, I think CU is letting Hawk coach next season, let his son Cody graduate from CU, and then kick Coach Hawk to the street. By this time, the buyout will have lowed substantially.

Here are a couple things both positive/negative that I noticed about our football games:

(When I say "we", I am not including myself)
1. We are the only team in the whole damn FBS that will "Boo" an injured player from the opposing team. And for this I am very embarrassed to call myself a Buffalo.
2. We "boo" the team and our coach staff whenever a timeout is called, no matter the reason it is called.
3. We chant "Fire Hawkins! Fire Hawkins!" right after the announcement that CU will keep Coach Hawk for another season.
4. We "boo" any player that does not may a play. We also say derogatory things to both players of both teams and fans of the opposing team.

----I am very embarrassed to be associated with these actions, especially #1----

(Things I love about football games)
1. This isnt intramurals brother! This is D1 football!
2. Ralphie and Chip are the two big things we cheer for
3. Our stadium is gorgeous
4. You are part of something bigger than yourself
5. You are part of a team
6. It's D1 football
7. Season tickets!
8. Also, with the school I chose to attend, I can also try out for the team...because we are THAT bad. haha.
9. There are many more, but these are enough for now.

A "very nice" Nebraska fan told me, "We have to be frisked before we go into Folsom?! Only in Boulder" -- and my response to that was a big fat grin. :D

1st Thanksgiving Away From Home

Thanks Auntie Raeann, Uncle Mike, and Grandma for driving to Boulder to pick me up!

For my ride home, I bought my GreyHound bus pass for $25, 2.5 hr drive from Pueblo, CO to Denver where Abby and Allie will pick me up.

Helping grandma make pumpkin and cherry pies. Actually just watching. She refused my help!

Messing around with the filters on one of my new apps! Watching the football game on Turkey Day! Gobble gobble!

Day before Thanksgiving, Ryan took me to Tinseltown to see a movie. We saw Ninja Assassin. It's was crazy, really gory, but a great movie!

I would like to especially thank my cousins Ryan and Dana who both were in the Marines. My cousin Dana, luckily did not have to fight in a war. More recently, my cousin Ryan served 2 tours of duty to the Middle East receiving 2 Purple Hearts, and currently lives in Pueblo, CO working as a sheriff. I love you guys! And thank you.

I beat the Flea Flicker by a score of 118.10 to 55.08! What a blowout.

He just wasn't strong competition this week. This win improves my

record to 5-2 and 827 points. And for my dominating win,

I won the Toyota Blowout Award of the week!

My second time winning this prestigious award.

I beat my opponent by 63.02 points.

I was the champion of my BFL pick em' league this week!

I was tied with HeadlessMom, BwJen and kathygee1 going into the

final game of the week. We all had the Philly Eagles winning the game,

the only difference was the final combined score! I guessed 46, and

the combined final score was 44 making me the closest!

Colorado vs. Kansas State -- CU Herd goes to the Little Apple

This was a great trip. Colleen and I embarked on our trip to Kansas on Friday the 23rd at 7:00am from the Koenig Alumni Building at University and Broadway. We took a cab from Will Ville to the Alumni Center for about $7.00. That is a really cheap taxi ride!

In a matter of 5 minutes, the scenary went from flat snowless plains,

to tons of snow on the ground!

Welcome to Kansas! Right as we entered Kansas,

we went through a truck scale.

We made it to Aggie-Ville (their version of Pearl Street),

where we had dinner at Pizza Hut and applauded by Kansas State fans

for beating U of Kansas the previous weekend.

We crashed the Kansas State Homecoming parade by

singing our fight song and cheering for CU!

This is a picture of their band playing in the parade.

Here we are on our way to Pizza Hut. Kansas State had some

nice paper-mache creations of Ralphie.

After dinner, the 21+ crowd headed for the bars.

(Drinking is the only thing to do in Kansas apparently). Colleen and I headed for

Kansas State to check out the University and goof around. Below are some pictures.

Supposedly Kansas State's Homecoming Theme was "The Frontier".

Colleen and I spent some time at the "Library". LOL.

It was some sort of modern art on the Kansas State Campus.

At 9:30pm, we boarded up the bus and headed to Junction City

to stay at our hotel, the DaysInn. This bus-ride was about 30 minutes away.

We spent the whole ride singing every type of song imaginable. A bus favorite

was the good ol' white person theme song. LOL. Don't Stop Believing by Journey.

When we got to the hotel, we got our room and hang out at the pool.

We played some pool with some Seniors. We each won once.

The next morning we woke up at 6:45am and headed to Kansas State for the game!

Gameday! Here is an alum cookin' up some burgers and hot dogs.

There was a ton of food! and sooo good!

It was put on by the CU Herd and Alumni Association.

We met a bunch of really cool alums and fans.

Here is the game ticket! Rough game. We lost 6-20.

After the game, we headed back to Aggie-Ville, and later left at 8:00pm.

We got back to the Alumni Building at 3:30am. Colleen and I then caught a cab home.

Not only did AP get off for 20+ points, so did Ronnie Brown, Big Ben, Philly's D, and Roddy White. I am now tied for the #1 record in the league, the #1 points leader in the league, and I have the most points scored in a single week in the league eclipsing my previous record of 143.29! What a week. I am now 4-1. Bring on the Granite Gargoyles!

Week 4 Yahoo Fantasy Football #cgleague / BFL Badge

Here it is! Week 4! The Buffs (my fantasy team, not the CU Buffs) are back! We are currently 4-1 after beating the Mr. Potato Heads into Mashed Potatoes. The final score was 110.07 -- 85.83. But of course this win doesn't come with some controversy. Long story short,
my opponent didn't have the defense that he wanted started, and he swears that he submitted the defense he wanted. I allowed @SteveGarufi, the manager of our league to allow the change for my opponent. At first I was a little worried as to how this would affect my match-ups. In the end, his second choice D, didn't help much more than the Buffalo Bills' D. Next week I have the Hotlanta NFL Divas. She is on a roll and getting the hang of fantasy football. Good luck to her, but I am going to own!

The Last Skype

Tonight was the last night that Michael and I could Skype. I forget the explanation for this
but basically Michael's mission began today at 8pm PST. This was brought upon by either his mission president/bishop, I don't remember which one Michael told me.
For the next 2-3 days, Michael will be living life as if he is on the mission, following all mission guidelines. His dad, Ted will be Michael's companion. They will do everything together.
Great father-son bonding. Hopefully Mr. Helvey can impart some wisdom on Michael before he goes... He needs it. ; )

I have been getting a lot of compliments.

This really upset me. I just graduated 5-6 months ago from SFHS
and they are already asking me to donate money in my name.
1. I have not even been in college for a semester.
2. I have no money, yet.
3. Why? I just don't understand.

Annie sent me this t-shirt from Odgen, Utah. And it return I sent he a Buffs shirt.
Just so happens that "Buff" is her nickname too! SWEET!
"If You Love Me Spoon Me" is a t-shirt from the froyo company her family business.
Her dad owns one of the locations in the chain, which are all in Utah!

A plant that my neighbor stole for his room.
He got it from the dining hall. It is real and he enjoys watering it.

This week CU tested its SMS/Email mass "emergency prep test".
Ironically, a real emergency happened 2 hours before the test
was supposed to be sent out. This led to mass confusion, as well as
my microeconomics class being canceled for the day!

If you have not heard, I shaved. :D My face is very soft and I have
now received the name, "Baby Vince" from some
of the girls on the 9th floor. They insist its cute. LOL.

Week 3 Yahoo Fantasy Football #cgleague

Going into my match-up this week, I knew I was in for a challenge. @PhilLadden is a formidable opponent with a stacked team. He showed nothing but class in his small margin of victory. It was a great match-up between him and I. In the end he won by less than 2 points. It was back and forth the whole weekend, and the game came down to the Colts v. Cardinals game in which he had Reggie Wayne and I had Dallas Clark and Adam Vinetieri. In the end Wayne was able to pull it out for him. I believe this is going to be a match-up in the playoffs. :D Looking back, there are tons of things I would have changed. I would have started Big Ben instead of Elie Manning, I would have started Denver's D instead of Philly's. And I would have kicked Adrian Peterson in the ass a little bit harder. He didnt score a TD, and he beat my 49ers! All in all, this was a great week for fantasy sports! Shucks, I didnt win though. There is always next week. Bring on the Mr. Potato Heads! I am going to cream you and turn you into mashed potatoes!

Week #2 against @SteveGarfui's Garbage Cans was a blowout! I am now 2-0!

The managerial call that was key on my part was starting Denver's D
against the Cleveland Browns as opposed to Philadelphia's D vs. The New Orleans Saints.
The Eagles got lit up by Drew Brees. And Denver was able to hold Brady Quinn and the Browns to only 6 points, with no offensive touchdowns.
I ended up beating Steve 143.29 - 86.05.
I again was the #cgleague leader in points for the week!
And am still #1 in the league!

It was a heated week with the Buffs pulling away in the final game of the week. I narrowly beat out Hurst Rockets with a score of 115.14 to 110.87. Better luck next week!

@CUSportsMag = Career in Sports Broadcasting?

This past week I have been working Twitter a little bit and have really got into finding companies in the Boulder area that tweet hoping I could find some discounts and reestablish some respect for the Twitterers at CU Boulder. LOL. Well I found some stores as well as some Twitter pages for various Schools at CU Boulder including the Leeds School of Business, @LeedsCUBoulder.
I also found more Twitter pages for many clubs/organizations. I found a couple for Frats, @CUIndependent (student run online newspaper, ya know? being green and all), @CUAmbassadors (students who organize tours of campus), the @CUBookstore (our school store, anything CU you could possibly want, including the Buffalo Chip), @cubuffs (CU sports news), @mycuboulder (just CU campus news) and FINALLY @CUSportsMag!
@CUSportsMag is a student run TV/Youtube broadcast on channel 22 and Youtube.
I have already signed up for this up-coming week to work the Youtube feed, (a little behind the scenes work, working to get the feed "LIVE" as we shoot in the studio). And then as I participate more I will be able to work the camera, lights, tech stuff, and by the end of the semester/year I will be able to be on the show, maybe as something not as prominent, like the weather or a special package I personally worked on. We will see how it goes, but I am very exciting for the possibility this club gives me. :D

Today I got my packages in the mail!
Same routine..I get email saying I got a package waiting for me in Darley Commons, and then I head over to Darley between 4pm-6pm to pick up said package.

@zjh90 also sent me a gift! a #sfgiants iPhone case! Pretty sweet!
He also sent me a check for $3.25.

Hawkins man, Hawkins (CU vs. CSU)

September 6th. Sunday night. 5:00 PM MST. Kickoff of the Rocky Mountain Showdown. CU vs. CSU. The Hippies vs. The Hicks. In-State rivals. As you can see, on the right at the bottom of the post, the Colorado

Buffaloes hold a large advantage in the rivalry. 58 wins for the Colorado Buffaloes vs. 19 wins for the Colorado State Rams. For the most part the Buffaloes have always

had the better team.

But this time it was different. Right from the get-go the CSU Rams

showed poise and complete dominance with every faucet of the game, mostly their passing attack. Every pass the CSU QB threw deep was either caught for a long gain/a score/or a perfect pass that the receive just drops. Every deep ball got behind out CU Secondary. It didnt look like the CU CB/SS/FS were messing up with their defensive schemes. They were just flat out, out-hustled, so it seemed.
On to our offense, We could not get anything done! We were held to 80 some yards in the first

half. 61 of them rushing with the rest being through the air. By the end of the second quarter, the fans, (including myself) were calling for Cody Hawkins' head. "Hansen! Hansen! Hansen!" filled the stadium. Clearly whatever his dad's talk, Dan Hawkins, the coach said really woke him up. Or maybe it was our deafening chant that did it. I am convinced that was the reason. None the less, the Buffaloes couldn't put it together. And one of the best parts of the game...the was a streaker!! OMG, it was so funny. and disgusting all at the same time. It was at half-time. The Buffs ended up losing to their instate rivals the CSU Rams by a score of 23-17. The game got exciting at the end of the fourth when Cody Hawkins put together a respectable drive that ended with a TD. But it was wayyy too late. It basically sucked alot! I was so pissed. It was an awful game. And the WORST part is that the CSU students/fans stormed our field.. : / Tough to watch for sure. Im not feeling so good about my 8-4 prediction for the season. : / The Buffs better turn it around.

Michael locked himself out of the Kia Rio, so we had to have them come. Luckily, it was covered by Kia. I guess this is an everyday occurrence on a college campus
and they opened up the car for us for FREE!

A glitch on Hannah's Blackberry Bold. We had to take it to the AT&T store in Broomfield, CO where they replace the phone no matter what was wrong with it. It had an out of warranty service. It was the only one in Colorado, I believe. For the record, Broomfield is only 15-20 mins.

Today Michael arrived in Denver, Colorado to come visit me for the weekend. This is the last time I will be seeing my best-man before he heads to Belgium to serve his Church, for the next two years. Mixed feelings about that for sure. Excited for him, but sad he won't be around when I am back in the Bay(tear). So, he put some money together with some help from Mr. Helvey(his daddy) i think he helped. ; )
So I woke up super early to get to the airport. I am really paranoid about the whole getting to the airport deal. The AB Sky-Ride bus only stops at the stop I was at every hour. I got on to the bus, made a couple transfers and was on my way. The public transportation people in Boulder were VERY helpful telling me where to get on which bus. A lady even dropped me off at a non-designated stop. SCORE!
I got to the airport, listened to my music, played on my laptop, and created a sign for Michael on my computer. It was awesome. I have never gotten so many weird looks, and head-turns as people get off the plane. It was quite a sight. I was holding my Macbook Pro in the air, dancing around. My reason for doing so was that, hopefully I never see any of these people again. But, this weekend is CU vs. CSU weekend at Folsom Field, meaning I may see some of these people at the game. haha. Oh well.

And there is the bozo I call the best-man. Dude, look at the road!

CU Boulder 2009-2010 Football Season Prediction

Hey all! Here is my prediction for the Buffaloes this upcoming
2009-2010 Football Season.

Last season the Buffaloes were 5-7. A losing record.

Hopefully the Buffaloes can turn it around with Cody Hawkins,
the coach's son taking the snaps and with new depth at WR.

You Steal My Gum--I Find Glasses

So if you haven't already heard, someone stole my Costco pack of gum and in return he/she left their keys to their mailbox and the keys to their Range Rover in my room. Hmm..I'm not hiding the keys, but I am kind of confused as to why no one has come back for them. Makes me wonder. Maybe they have NO idea where they are. I really don't care. I guess he really needed gum.

But my luck struck last night on my way to a party. I found Oakleys! How cool is that? They were on the ground. Picked them up, and asked around if they were anybody's. Everyone said no, so I kept them and placed them on top of my SJ Giants hat. I looked like a ball player with my SJ Giants Hat, my Oakley glasses, and Phiten necklace. haha.

I want a pair! I think they are really cool sandals. And very Boulder-like. Check them out here.. They are around the $50 range, so maybe for Christmas, Thanksgiving, or maybe I get them for myself for the celebration of Gina's bday?! :D haha.

They been around since July, 1997 when Jeff Kelley started making sandals out of inner tubes and indoor-outdoor carpet. “Sanük” is the Thai word for happiness and balance(exactly what I am striving for here at CU), the name is also the mantra. Smile…Pass it on!

There is another brand of this type of sandal/shoe that I tried on at the CU Bookstore, but they were $65. Next time I am in the store, I will try and check out what brand they are.

Gummy Bear Challenge

My First College Laundry Run

Today I took my first adventure to the laundry in the Basement on Stearns West. I arrived to the basement with all my clothes, my All soap, and my bounce dryer sheets to see that the Stearns West laundry room had too many people for my liking, and alot of the same people I have been hanging out with. I figured this would be the perfect time to broaden my horizons and search out another place to do my laundry. I ventured over to Stearns East(the two buildings share a basement tunnel, which I took) and found the laundry room there. I met the people and started up my laundry, taking precaution to sort out my lights/whites and the darks. I started up two machines, bringing my total to $2.00, which I paid with by swiping my BuffOne Card.

In the meantime, my friend Abby(picture coming soon) from my leadership camp met me at the laundry room, because she wanted to hang out. We talked, listened to music, and skyped some people: my dad, mom, anna, haley, michael, and molly. After about 35 minutes I moved my clothes from the washing machines to the dryers. Another $2.00, bringing my total to $4.00!

Now, the laundry is done! I check it out, and notice that the laundry is just as wet as when I put it in! ARRGGG! so, I swipe my card 2x more, once for each dryer and begin the process all over. This brought my total to $6.00.

After all was said and done, I folded my laundry, said bye to my new friends and headed to back Stearns West. Success!

It was $40, sorry mom and dad. But I needed it. It's 1/4 of my grade.
